The novel is one of the most haunting novels I have ever read. The condition when the people lose their identity, when the people become puppets in the hands of the institution termed state or Government these are depicted throughout the novel. If you are a lover of romance and optimism, this novel will disappoint you. This one brings you through hard facts you can't stomach. Got reminded of people like Nambi Narayanan while going through the novel.

I think this the best book I ever read in Malayalam it's a haunting book you get really depressed after reading this. That really shows the impact of the book. It's not an easy readable book like mt or mukundan but if you can finish this you will be addicted to it. It's a socio political novel shows the real Indian situations it can be compared with 1984 by George Orwell the similarity is not in the subject it's about the feeling. one novel that I found very difficult to finish. if u ask me the story line it is bound to finish In may be a few pages. the rest of the novel isfilled with indepth philosophy pain of life and the struggle of poor people. one way to put it is it shatters all the basic ideas of ur idea of what a novel shud be. in other words as an artform it may be excellent in the way Anands thought process works but calling it a novel is little farfetched. hmm thank god i could finish it

Just okay. Thought Anand was supposed to be a big deal. An interesting premise, couple of short stories' material hanging on to what is, basically, observations on the relationship between the state and the people. Not bad, not brilliant.
