One of the best i have read. Search for peace, a non ending one.

A classic from a master storyteller, MT Vasudevan Nair's Varanasi, translated ably by N Gopalakrishnan, reminded me of several other books in the way it fuses nostalgia, guilt, and the idea of travel as a metaphor for life's ebbs and flows. In the way our protagonist moves through life, guilt-stricken, unable to control himself or his lust, running away from everything, I was reminded of that other great Malayalam novel, OV Vijayan's Khasakinte Ithihasam. Nothing much great about this Book. It doesn't meet my expectation, the only thing which attracted me was the name and the introduction.

Another magnum opus from the master craftsman in Malayalam. He painted an extremely wider canvas with vibrant pictures of the experiences of the character Sudhakaran. A good read indeed!

Well like the previous book I read "Naalukettu", this book is also as interesting as that. I was reading simultaneously two books, well I started reading Kite Runner when I saw that Varanasi was up for sale in the second hand book group where I am member.So I bought it for a bargain and it was delivered some days later, I had already seen the reviews for this book and was quite critical to note that several other who have read this book had given less rating and somewhat halfhearted reviews.I al [...]

ഇത് പള്‍പ്പുനോവലല്ല. ജീവിതത്തില്‍ പേജ് തിട്ടപ്പെടുത്തി തിരിച്ചു വച്ച അധ്യായങ്ങളില്ല. മനസ്സ് മുന്‍പോട്ടും പിറകോട്ടും ഓടും. അപ്പോള്‍ തുന്നിക്കെട്ടുകള്‍ അഴിയും.

എം.ടി കഥകളിൽ ഏടവും ഇഷ്ടമുല്ലവയിൽ ഒന്ന്, വരനസിയെ വായികുക ആയിരുനില്ല വാരാണസിയിൽ ജീവികുക ആയിരുന്നു ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ അവസാന ഏട് വരെയും ഞാൻ,
