  • I really wanted to Love this story because the premise sounded interesting. Its a little different than what I usually listen to since its more mystery than Romance. But I had a bit of a hard time connecting with this story at the beginning. It was a little slow starting but once you got about an hour in the story really picks up and becomes more intriguing. Overall it was ok, and I think the Author did a good job pulling all aspects of this book together. (Again, I am not a Huge Mystery/Suspens [...]

  • I struggled with this book. I liked the story premise and I quite liked both of the main characters. The researcher from an affluent, politically connected family and a warden with a short temper are an unlikely pairing and the men’s differences make for an interesting read, especially when they have to work together to survive the elements in a Wyoming national park.Despite the initial promise of the story, I found the writing style very difficult to follow. The first aborted scenes between M [...]

  • I really liked what this author did with this story and these characters, even though there were times I am going to be honest and say that I was not a huge fan of the way Michael talked to Sonny. That kind of drove me nuts at points because he was just being a jerk to him so it did take me awhile to start liking his character and understand why he acted the way he did. But other than that I liked the aspect of this story and the mystery. This was definitely a slow burn to me with some of the st [...]

  • Audiobook Review:In general I liked this very angsty romance. This is the 2nd in this series, but is a stand alone story. I listened to the first book and really didn’t see any relation to this one. This is the story of Michael and Seamus; although he goes by a variety of names in the story. Michael is a complex character who runs hot and cold to the point he gave me whiplash. Sometimes he is a jerk, but later you realize it is a defensive mechanism. Seamus comes from wealth and privileged but [...]

  • Review copy provided via Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.Felt like a HFN instead of HEAAlthough tagged as part of the Snowy Range Mystery series, I believe this can be read as a stand-alone since I haven't read the other book & as far as I know none of the other characters made an appearance in this one.Michael Brooks has been described as having anger management issues. He's sent to be a counselor at a day camp after shooting a poacher who was going to hurt a boy at one of th [...]

  • Every time I read something by Nya, I wonder how she can top it. Then she does, again, and again, and again. Timber Lake is just another jewel in the priceless crown of her writing career. Filled with suspense, rocking sex, and edge-of-your-seat action, it covers all the bases and then some. Michael was by far my favourite character - something at his savagery both thrilled and yanked at my heart. Someone wearing that much of their fury as though it was just another part of their toilette might [...]

  • An exciting m/m romantic suspense story4 stars“Timber Lake” by Nya Rawlyns is a m/m romantic suspense story that follows the adventures of Fish and Game Warden Michael Brooks who has been assigned to help Seamus (Sonny) Rydell with a research project that takes them into territory that will challenge them both professionally and personally. Their growing attraction is threatened by not only the scars of the past and the fears of the present but by unresolved issues that become all too tangib [...]

  • A Joyfully Jay review. 3.25 starsTimber Lake was okay in almost every aspect. Just okay. Nothing really grabbed me or made me love this book in a big way, but nor was anything too terrible except for a rushed and chaotic ending. The narrative is fairly well written save for a habit of awkward transitioning from one scene to another. I came across this problem in another book I recently reviewed and found it to be a real annoyance because it continually jerks the reader out of the action. This sa [...]

  • Nya Rawlyns’ Timber Lake shows us the clash of the lingering Old West and modern political agenda. Michael Brooks, a rough Wyoming warden, has a potty mouth and a sordid past. Underneath his hardened exterior is a great love for the land and animals in his care. But not for much else – at least not lately. City slicker Seamus “Sonny” Rydell is assigned to survey the land Michael holds dear.Rawlyns’ writing style drew me in immediately. Her use of language is exquisite, painting the cha [...]

  • Sweet RomanceMichael Brooks and Dr. Seamus Riley first cross paths at a rodeo, literally bumping into each other, there’s a frisson of excitement, an instant attraction between them. As they acquaint themselves with a round of beers, both agree to cut the night short as lust is making things progress a little fast. Fast forward the next morning, Seamus (Sonny) is surprised to see Michael at the meeting where he’s the local forest warden, and he’s his guide into the remote areas around Timb [...]

  • Wonderful complex tale of love and self discoveryTimber Lake is thrilling stand alone novel set in the snowy mountains of Wyoming.Michael is a short-fused loner who's hot head often gets him in trouble. Seamus is a researcher and political animal who feels the weight of generations of expectations. He has no time for a lover or a relationship until his path cross that of Michael. They are to work together despite the lust they feel for each other, and many twists and scary turns hinder their pat [...]

  • I so wanted to really love this book but it was only okay. I just could not connect with either of the MC’s and I found this book was a struggle for me to read. I liked the idea behind the characters and there was definitely suspense which should have made really like the book. The blurb made it sound so interesting but it was clear that this book was not for me. The authors writing style should have made it an easy read but I just really failed to engross myself in this book. That being said, [...]
