  • Wow. How can any writer flesh out such full-bodied tales with so few words???I dunno, but THIS writer pulls it off like a pro. The number of words Mora-Summonte uses is small, but like a gifted artist with a limited palette, she wields them skillfully and effectively to create vivid images. A chilling darkness and vulnerability permeate the ultra short pieces in this book, and some of the twisted endings are bound to catch you by surprise. (They did ME! • Ms. Mora-Summonte writes wonderful flash fiction. I devoured these pieces within a few hours. What constitutes good flash fiction was expressed as follows by an Irish flash fiction writer: "Short on words but long on depth, flash fiction stings like good poetry. Punchy, succinct and surprising, the best flash stories shift the reader’s heart but they also keep it beating hard." Nuala Ní Chonchúir.This is exactly what these pieces do!

  • I love Madeline's fiction even though these tales are truly dark and freaked me out quite a bit. She is an amazing writer. On a 1-10 scary scale, these are a 10+, and on a 1-10 writing scale, these are a 10+. So, move over Stephen King. (Not recommended for MG readers.)

  • Thought provoking and spooky. This compilation is gritty and tantalizing, with stories that grab you by the throat in only a few short words and send your mind spinning. Content warning: Mature audiences for disturbing elements.

  • that was an excellent collection of dark tales. although the cover is way too cheery so I wasn't expecting such twisted stories.
