I enjoyed this fantasy romp with a curse talking cat and a swamp witch.It was fun but the pacing of the plot dragged a bit for me in the middle. The really good parts happen in the last part of the book with lots of reveals.I would have liked more romance but this book is a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

OK this was just utterly darling of a read. I loved the haphazard often accidental mess of a magical system, and the three lead characters just made me smile like a loon. I did figure out at least part of one of the twists, but it was explained in a way I never saw coming. Just really fun and I would have loved more adventures in the Swamp Witch's hut!

This book first caught my attention with the title, and I thought the cover was charming, so it went on my TBR pile. I don't usually read f/f so a bit of a departure for me.This was a very sweet story in all senses. I enjoyed it, though I felt the 'love' element didn't really seem convincing? developed enough? happened too fast? Not sure exactly, but with a little more depth and attention to that side of things, and a little more of the 'world', this would have definitely been five stars from me [...]

Witch, Cat, and Cobb by J.K. Pendragon is a great variation on the traditional fairy tale. In this story, the princess does not want to marry the elf prince so instead runs away. She and her cat, who now talks, make their way into the swamp to the cottage of the Swamp Witch. The three settle into a comfortable existence until they are found by the elf prince. 3.8 stars. I thought this was a really cute story with some interesting twists. The cat especially was entertaining and the two leads were worthy protagonists to follow. The storyline kept me interested from start to finish. There is a romance here but it's subtle which is why I put it more in the "cute" category. This was a very, very sweet story. Two gals living in their swamp hut doing magic and alchemy together happy ever after. God I wish that were me.I only thought the resolution with the prince was a bit And Fen occasionally visits them from his mission to f everything, and sings about his travels and adventures like a bard should, while all 3 of them sit on the porch in the evening as the sun sets. End credits.

This short new story by J.K. Pendragon started out really strong for me. It was atmospheric, interesting, a little bis spooky and mysterious. I was pleasantly surprised by this. I thought I had predicted the plot very early on, but then it turned out that things were deeper and more interesting than I expected. The story was surprising, fun, and entertaining, and I loved the genderqueerness, trans characters, character back stories, etc. The only reason I took one star off was that I personally couldn't feel the chemistry between the main love interests. Witch, Cat, and Cobb is a wonderful F/F romance in a fantasy setting. It's a quick read but a good one. I like the inclusion of magic, and there are a number of surprises along the way that keep the plot moving. There's not a ton of worldbuilding, but the tidbits we get support the story well and give the setting a unique flavor.This is yet another lovely story from J.K. Pendragon. I highly recommend it.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley. The writing is very sophisticated, engaging, and witty. The plot had an even flow where I didn’t feel like I was reading a short story and skipping important bits for length, but a true novel.Now, I won’t deny it, by the end I felt like I read a fantasy edition of a Jerry Springer episode, but I enjoyed it so that’s all that matters, right?

Short and sweetThis is a wonderful little book about a runaway, a lost princess, a witch, and a surly cat. I liked the playful tone, and the plot kept me guessing, though it was not extremely tense. All the main characters are queer, and if you're looking for lesbian and trans representation then this is even better.
