I really like Moon and Ba's artwork, but this isn't the best that I've seen from there. There's good reason for that. It looks like these are some of their earlier works. I'm sure Dark Horse published it because some of their later works have become popular, but I'm fine with that. Nothing here is bad, though a few of the short stories didn't really interest me. Hmmm. Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba, twins who write stories separately and in collaboration. Apparently in this collection they often switch roles (one will write, the other draw) and some of these are written individually by one or the other. So far I have read two books by these guys and can't quite connect with their work. Gabriel Bá and Fábio Moon are two of the most gifted comics artists of their generation. These are comic book short stories by the incredible Brazilian artist/writer twins Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon. Not nearly as good as Daytripper. Maybe it was Daytripper's glorious colors, or the fact that it was one connected story as opposed to several small ones, but this black-and-white compilation by twins Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba didn't grab me as I'd hoped. This was interesting? The art was really gritty and there was a lot of circular stories about how people are interconnected and how time is weird. The majority of the stories are little love stories, though, and they're very obviously written by guys? They're about cool, mysterious girls who make the first move, get into taxi's with guys they don't know, approach men on the street and immediately hit on them. Overall I was not really into this collection of graphic short stories, except for one really lovely story about a group of guys who bring their friend back from the dead for one night, just to hang out. Otherwise I found the stories dull and lacking in the Brazilian flavor so trumped by the description on the back and the foreword.

Loved the art; caution: nudity, which I wasn't expecting (and adult themes, which I rather did suspect).

These short stories ( in graphic novel form) tend to be about male-female relationships, including of the "could-have-been" and "now-I-will-never-know-for-sure" type. The drawings by these two Brazilian twins are fine, but thematically I didn't find the stories depicted very deep or intriguing. There is not much, to my mind, that is particularly Brazilian here. The subtitle could easily have been Stories from Urban Ukraine, or Stories from Urban Canada.

Opportunity to appreciate early versions of Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba's illustration and story telling styles. It's so cool to see them working together, apart, while trading off roles as writers and illustrators. Really enjoyed seeing each of them taking on the same story,"Reflection," and making it their own.

Interesting and thoughtful stories, solid black-and-white art. Go bros go!

De Tales is a series of short stories that are un-related to each other. The book smudges reality with fantasy and provides a painting of life with vibrant colors. Many stories carry great lessons hidden in symbols and puzzles that I believe would spark discussions among its readers. I read Daytripper by the Brazilian duo brothers Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá back at the end of 2014, but never wrote anything about it.
