bpsg was founded in 1997. We are dedicated to helping families of lesbian, gay and bisexual people in coming to terms with knowing that a member of their family is gay.
Coming to terms with a son or daughter's sexuality can be very difficult, but help is at hand. You can receive help over the phone or attend an informal meeting where you can talk to other parents who are experiencing, or have experienced, what you are going through.
To get in contact with bpsg please call us on (0121) 742 0230. We will be delighted to give you more information about bpsg, as well as any other help or information you may require.
There is one thing that you must remember if a member of your family tells you they are gay - it's not the end of the world. In fact it's the beginning. 'Coming out' is the term used when a person tells someone they are gay, lesbian or bisexual. This can be a nervous time for someone who is not fully out already (everyone who knows them, knows that he/she is gay). The more people that person tells, the more comfortable they are with telling more people (depending on previous reactions from people they have told previously)... more
Parents are themselves often afraid to 'come out' to others because they think they will be judged for it - but at our meetings they can talk about these fears safely and without fear. We meet monthly in Solihull Town Centre and anyone is welcome to join us. You can find out more about our meetings here or contact us for more information.
